A beautifully curated silk collection of tunics and dresses inspired by the Bauhaus Art Movement that took wing in Germany during the 1920-30s. Its quirky, fun and irresistible !
The Indian Summer is long and goes well into the fall. This collection is designed to keep you cool until the winter hits.
Play around with colour combinations and suggest others to simply have fun!
Delicious and cool , this collection is called Sorbet for very good reasons ! The water like quality of organza and georgette is infused with iridescent mint , melon , strawberry , peach and lemon . The tone on tone embroideries are floral and leafy heralding spring and the onset of summer . A sprinkle of sparkling crystals , like crushed ice , takes on the hues of this fruity palette , completing the illusion . Whites too , shimmering and sparkling like pure virgin ice , hold their own as they swirl in fluid forms . Sheer waterfall jackets , cascade capes , structured tops , long flirty skirts and tunics make Sorbet a perfect fit for the season .
Delicious Chanderi Silks , as soft as home made butter , combine with equally smooth cotton silks to ebb and flow in layers , gently undulating like froth on ocean waves….
The shimmer of burnished gold leaves on bronze heralding autumn is a visual that’s impactful yet playful . In our next series of Mother’s and Daughter’s we create fun moments with our lovely Taika family as it were.
The gold and bronze tissues are especially woven for us in Chanderi , MP and translate beautifully into cocoon dresses and Japanese inspired tops.
A burst of colours in dupion silk make way for winter. Cocoon dresses embroidered in contrasting colours are sassy and edgy . These can be paired with delicately patterned quilted silk jackets in the same or contrasting colours to add pop and zing to the winter wardrobe.
Summer Solstice
Linens in blush pinks , dove greys , ash and ivory are the staple of SS 20 collection which is dedicated to , and in praise of , mothers and daughters….
A beautiful mother and her two gorgeous daughters. Friends of mine and not professional models. The bonhomie and the bonding that comes through in the photographs is what creates magic – which means Taika in Finnish !
The collection is called GOLD DUST . We have used gold metal thread embroidery in creating modern patterns on a backdrop of black linen . Cocoon dresses in all shapes and lengths are combined with gold tissue capes and quilted jackets evocative of a very Japanese aesthetic . The tissue has been especially woven by us in Chanderi and special care has been taken to ensure it has a ‘ forever ‘ shelf life without tearing or turning black . We have used only fabrics that breathe and our made of completely natural fibres , which is the main USP of our label . The collection is eclectic and contemporary with an edge . It is dramatic yet restrained .
Adding to the resplendence are skirts embroidered in gold thread and appliquéd with gold tissue . The inspiration is Egyptian with a contemporary indian feel paired with velvet off shoulder tops and gold quilted short boleros .
A quirky and fun collection with a burst of colours appliquéd on an egg white canvas creating contemporary silhouettes carved out of linen .
A velvety cobalt and a twinge of orange as the sun sets on a Mediterranean sky are echoed in this collection of western silhouettes made from matka silk and stretch linen. Appliquéd with patterns inspired from constellations . Black and white also pay homage to the night sky and the Milky Way taking your in a journey which is celestial but fun .
The ‘constellations’ head gear was designed by Satsuki Nakagawa who is a Tokyo based milliner.
She studied millinery in London and worked for Stephen jones, Misa Harada, Noel Stewart millinery and English National Opera . These delicately constructed pieces came boxed in from Tokyo .
Enjoy ..
I would like to call this collection , even at the risk of sounding trite , “ Ivory Coast and the Art of Zen “ .
It encompasses what I cherish most – a simplistic yet impactful way of being .
In one word “cool” .
The idea of controlling balance in a composition via irregularity and asymmetry is a central tenet of the Zen aesthetic along with the following principles , all of which we have tried to embody in our work .
Fukinsei : Asymmetry or irregularity.
Kanso : Simplicity or elimination of clutter. Things are expressed in a plain, simple, natural manner.
Shibui/Shibumi : Beautiful by being understated, or by being precisely what it was meant to be and not elaborated upon. Direct and simple way, without being flashy. Elegant simplicity. The term is sometimes used today to describe something cool but beautifully minimalist .
Shizen : Naturalness.
Seijaku :Tranquility or an energized calm
Datsuzoku : Freedom from habit or formula. Escape from daily routine or the ordinary. Unworldly. Transcending the conventional.
Easy breezy diaphanous chanderis are embroidered in ebony and interpreted in various avatars of the cape and paired with black jersey pants. This perfect fit of sheer and solid , for me represents the Yin and the Yang . The feminine with the masculine , in supreme harmony with the Universe .
Flared pants , drop crotch pants , dhoti pants , layered pants , cascade pants also combine with jersey asymmetrical capes , tunics and waterfall jackets which are tie and dyed or bleached to form a rust like pattern of a wheel which can be interpreted as the chakra of life or infinity …….
In essence , it’s a collection that lets you be who you want to be and yet lifts you out of the realm of the ordinary into the extraordinary .

A mouth watering and delectable range of linen tops and tunics embroidered with quirky designs are the staple of this collection. The silhouettes are easy yet unconventional, with box pleats and asymmetrical hemlines, carefully detailed with stitch lines and wooden buttons, designed to suit all ages and body types.
Lime, aqua, tangerine, mango, sunflower, turquoise, watermelon, coral and other bright pastels tango together as you ride bicycles and play with safety pins and measuring tapes.
A collection that is happy, playful, flirtatious and edgy. Bound to bring a ‘spring’ to your step.
